The Undergraduate Political Science Association at the University of Connecticut has partnered with the World Affairs Forum to further the mission of both organizations. World Affairs Forum is a local non-partisan, non-profit bringing change makers and residents together to discuss topics of public concern. They provide Fairfield and Westchester Counties with the knowledge and networks they need to better understand how global affairs impact their local lives. Audiences include people from all sectors, including education, business and non-profit professionals.
The Undergraduate Political Science Association at UCONN is a non-partisan, student-led, inter-campus organization founded to create a space where students can develop socially, professionally, and intellectually.
“I am very excited about this collaboration,” says Michael Hernandez, President and Founder of Undergraduate Political Science Association.
“This collaboration provides opportunities for students to develop a variety of skills including networking, event facilitation, storytelling, and diplomacy. World Affairs Forum also benefits by broadening its reach among civically engaged students and Generation Z. The forum’s diverse audience creates one of the few places where inter-generational discussions can happen frequently,” says Frank Griggs, Visiting Professor of Political Science. “I hope that UCONN students take advantage of the opportunity to learn about and discuss the globe while developing skills related to the operation of NGOs. These skills will enhance their professional qualifications.”
The World Affairs Forum invites UCONN students to be a part of their speaker series free of charge. They also welcome students and the entire community to discussion groups and game nights that engage residents in fun creative ways.
“This is an unrivaled opportunity to engage in topical issues while benefiting and learning about our community,” says Julia Markfield, Co-Chair of the Undergraduate Political Science Association, Student Liaison, World Affairs Forum
The Stamford chapter of the World Affairs Forum serves Fairfield and Westchester Counties and is a member of the World Affairs Councils of America founded in 1946 to increase awareness of world affairs. For more information go to WorldAffairsForum.org.
